Function / Content

This series consists of a copy register used to record the number of Level Books issued, and details of the information recorded in them. The entries were copied from the "N.T. Plan Register" as a note on the inside front cover of the volume confirms: "copy of Drafting Office Darwin, NT Plan Register, pages 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 58, 59". The original register is available in NTRS 2441. Five columns span every two pages, and are titled; LB no. [level book number], surveyor, date, locality, and description of survey. The entries for LB nos.1-66 (date range: 1914-1940) are recorded in five columns, while the remaining entries (L.B. Nos.67-742) include an extra column titled "Plan No". These entries have a date range of 11/12/1940-16/61966. The register includes the following entry; Level Book No.1 was used by a Surveyor named Boulter who, in 1914, made a survey of the drains from the Darwin Botanic Gardens to Mendil [Mindil] Beach.
